What does Sütaş do to protect the environment and the planet?

Our “Farm to Table” integrated business model assures our product quality and presents a unique sustainability model in its circular structure based on the efficient use of natural resources and recycling.

We process animal manure from farms and organic waste from facilities at biogas plants and convert them into renewable energy, providing electricity, hot water, and steam. The power we generate here meets 80 percent of our facilities' power needs. We aim to meet 100 percent of our power needs from our renewable energy facilities by 2025. We support this goal with solar power generation. In 2021, the amount of greenhouse gases we prevented through renewable energy generation exceeded the amount of greenhouse gases emitted by our production operations by 117 percent. Since establishing our biogas plants in 2013, we have prevented greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to the amount captured by 38 million trees.

We produce organic and organomineral fertilizers from the output and waste of our biogas facilities. We use these fertilizers to enrich the soils where we grow feed for our cows. Our natural fertilizers improve the organic structure of the soil and increase crop yield. We aim to strengthen the soil by reabsorbing 50,000 metric tons of organic materials back into it.

We treat and recycle all of the water we use at our facilities.
